Rum is made from molasses, which is a by-product of sugar production. Molasses contains up to 50% sugar that can’t be crystallized due to high content of other ingredients. So maybe skip the dessert shop before your tasting!

There’s no single way to distill rum — each producer uses different techniques and recipes. That’s what makes every rum unique and the tasting experience even more exciting.

Rum is usually aged in wooden barrels, though sometimes it’s stored in stainless steel tanks. Since rum is made in warm tropical climates, it ages faster than spirits like brandy or whiskey. Experience details:

The rum tasting takes place in a cozy jazz club in Prague. When you arrive, just hand over your voucher to the organizers. You’ll sample 5 ultra-premium rums, get a carafe of water, and a savory snack. After the tasting, remember you’ve been drinking alcohol — it’s best to take public transport or arrange a ride home.
