Modern Spa Procedure

The art of spa treatments has been evolving continuously, and even our ancestors in ancient times knew the beneficial effects of hot baths enriched with fragrant herbal oils and similar healing substances. Beer baths were also known and used back then, though they differed from today’s treatments, at least in that beer was made only from malted grains. The first documented use of hops in brewing dates back to 768. Today's beer baths are procedures highly beneficial to the human body, and the use of beer as a therapeutic agent was pioneered by the Klosterbrauerei Neuzelle brewery in Germany. Since then, interest in beer spas has only grown.

The first beer baths in our country were offered in Chodová Planá at the Chodovar brewery in 2006. Since we are a nation of beer lovers who cherish their “liquid bread,” beer baths are extremely popular here. Besides the Czech Republic and Germany, beer baths are also popular in Austria.

What to Expect from a Beer Bath

Each provider offering beer baths may have slightly different preparation methods. The constant base is, of course, a bath of a certain temperature (usually between 34 and 38°C), but individual recipes can vary. Beer and brewer’s yeast are found in every recipe, though proportions and additional ingredients, such as various herbal blends, may differ. You may also encounter variants like bubbling beer baths.

You can enjoy your beer bath in a classic bathtub, or for example, a wooden or steel tub. Some providers even offer baths in entire beer pools. The bath typically lasts between 20 and 30 minutes. If you spend a longer time in such warm water, it’s important to stay hydrated, so providers often install taps next to the tubs, where you can pour yourself tasty and refreshing beer. Doesn’t that sound great? ;-) After your bath, you usually relax on a special bed where your body is warmed further, completing the whole healing process.

A Gift Like No Other

If you need to switch off, relax, forget about the world, and release tension from body and soul, a voucher for a beer bath is just the right treat... literally a “beer” treat. Of course, such a voucher also makes an amazing gift for someone you know who really needs to unwind. You’ll make them truly happy — we promise!
