Do you also love scenic views like I do – whether it’s overlooking the city or just water? Are you sure you know all the viewpoints from which you can admire nature or the downtown skyline? Don’t leave Prague – it offers everything you’re looking for.

Dívčí hrady Ridge – a viewpoint even locals don’t know

Dívčí hrady can actually be divided into two separate viewpoints – one closer to the city center, the other facing towards Barrandov. They’re less than 200 meters apart and connected by a vast meadow.

For me, Dívčí hrady is one of the TOP viewpoints in Prague. From here, you can see virtually the entire city, and at the same time, you can simply relax and do whatever you want.

On sunny days, bring your significant other or a group of friends, have a picnic and enjoy total relaxation with a view of the city. The huge meadow here is perfect for it – in autumn, people traditionally come here to fly kites.

You’ll enter from the waterworks area, and even before you arrive, you’ll pass volleyball and football fields cleverly laid out – essentially trimmed grass areas with a volleyball net and wooden goals for football. Unfortunately, there’s nowhere to rent a ball, so don’t forget to bring your own.

So, what can you see from here? All of Prague! The panoramic view stretches from the Strahov Stadium lights to the Barrandov film studios. You’ll also spot Petřín Hill, Prague Castle, the full beauty of Vyšehrad, Kavčí hory, Císařská louka, Smíchov train station and the iconic "V" intersection.

It’s so peaceful here that you can hear crickets chirping and the rustling of trees. I highly recommend visiting Dívčí hrady – you won’t regret it, because it’s simply impossible. Bring binoculars to zoom in on Charles Bridge and more. Try to count how many bridges you can see from here!

Dobeška Viewpoint

This viewpoint is the best of the best. At Dobeška, I love to stay all afternoon until evening and never get tired of the view. It’s an amazing spot where you can see the entire city, but the atmosphere feels completely different.

Dobeška Viewpoint is located on the Branické rocks directly opposite Dívčí hrady – giving you a mirrored view, yet it’s not just a reflection; it’s something more. Here, everyone feels like the king of Prague. Watch the cars rushing across Barrandov Bridge, while time seems to stand still... pure beauty. Cyclists pass by along the riverside paths, canoeists paddle down the Vltava, trains pass towards Smíchov station – and somehow, all this movement is incredibly calming. Take your time here and enjoy the peaceful view.

It’s not the Prague you remember. You’ll be surprised at how much greenery and forest surrounds the city center. Many cities would envy Prague’s abundance of green spaces. The wind gently breezes past you, inviting you to relax completely. Once you’ve soaked in the views, you can even grill sausages at the concrete fire pit within the Dobeška area – though you’ll need to bring your own wood. And don’t forget a blanket for lying down and reading that book you’ve been putting off.

Definitely stay until sunset – the view is spectacular.

Paví Vrch – Radlice

Not many locals know about Paví Vrch, making it a unique spot to visit. From here, you get a great view of Radlická street, Malvazinky with the Church of St. Philip and St. James, and the Dívčí hrady neighborhood with its charming villas – definitely worth a closer look. You’ll also see Branické rocks – Dobeška, the "V" intersection, Petřín, Strahov and its stadium.

At the top of Paví Vrch, there’s a small fire pit, perfect for grilling and picnics. This viewpoint faces west, offering beautiful sunset views.

Surrounded by greenery, it feels like you’ve left the city – even though you’re still in the heart of Prague.

Viewpoint at Kruliš Villa

On your way to Paví Vrch, stop slightly lower at Kruliš Villa, where you’ll find another lovely view of Prague.

From here, you’ll see Vyšehrad up close, Kavčí hory, Žižkov TV Tower, Nusle Bridge and the Podolí Maternity Hospital. There’s a bench where you can sit and enjoy the peaceful view over the dense greenery.

Bohnice Viewpoint

This viewpoint also has a large meadow where you can relax, have a picnic or play sports. Bring a swimsuit and sunbathe, or enjoy a game of badminton – there’s plenty of space.

From the viewpoint, you’ll see a stunning S-shaped curve of the Vltava river, similar to the famous Máj viewpoint – but without leaving Prague. Look carefully and you’ll spot Prague Castle, seen from its profile side. A riverside cycle path also runs nearby – perfect for a bike ride or rollerblading.

Parking is available near the apartment buildings, and luckily, cars aren’t allowed directly to the viewpoint, making it even quieter.

Bohnice Viewpoint feels peaceful and relaxing, though photos can’t fully capture it – you’ll need to visit to see for yourself.

If someone picks you up in a convertible – or just a regular car – there’s a nice road down towards the zoo, including a serpentine curve that will give you a small adrenaline rush. Before the sharp turn, stop at a small rest area and enjoy yet another beautiful view of Prague from a different angle.

Prosek Viewpoint

Our final spot is the Prosek Viewpoint, located on the Prosek rocks. Built using gabion baskets filled with stones, this viewpoint – like Dívčí hrady – could be considered as having two wings or sections.

From here, you’ll see the O2 Arena, Žižkov TV Tower, Strahov Stadium and, with a bit of luck, a passing train. In the middle of the view, a large group of trees slightly obstructs the panorama, so it’s better to visit in autumn or winter.

Nearby, there’s a meadow perfect for a relaxing afternoon. There are benches for sitting and relaxing, or if you prefer to lie down, bring a thick blanket or sleeping mat, as the meadow has small thistles.

You can park within 50 meters and walk to the viewpoint in peace. If you’re up for more fun, right below the viewpoint is the only bobsleigh track in Prague – the Prosek Bobsleigh Track. Take your partner or kids and enjoy a ride you’ll remember!
